A Fallout 4 player encountered a very rare finishing move while out exploring the Commonwealth with their companion Cait. Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic RPG released seven years ago and while it may not be as highly regarded by fans as other Bethesda masterpieces, Fallout 4 was considered a solid entry in the series and still has a committed community to this day.

A significant feature of Fallout 4 lets players have major characters tag along with them as companions. In addition to waging battle on their behalf, these companions can also be equipped with armor, weapons and stimpaks to make use of in fights. Additionally, they can help carry a bunch of junk if the player becomes over encumbered. Fan-favorite characters like Nick Valentine, Dogmeat, and Preston Garvey are available for players to recruit among other notable characters. Players can unlock Cait as a companion by defeating all the raiders in the Combat Zone arena and talking to a ghoul named Tommy Lonegan.

Reddit user Carg72 posted a clip showing the player and their trusy companion, Cait, crouched down in a small, dingy room. The player starts looking around when they hear an enemy’s voice and upon turning around they see Cait mid-suplex with a Triggerman in her arms. As she slams him to the ground, killing him, the combination of the classic Fallout cash register kill sound, Cait’s threatening voice line, the Triggerman groaning and the player looting items off his corpse only adds to the hilarity. Cait then crouches near the doorway ready for more action.

In the post, Carg72 adds that in their approximate five years playing Fallout 4, they’ve never encountered such a move performed by the chem-addicted Irish cage fighter. Fans commented below the post discussing the suplex. Some pointed out that it’s a finishing move animation that most companions can pull off if the final blow to an enemy is a melee attack. Additionally, Reddit user jmjwrskp mentioned that players can also perform the German suplex on enemies if they’re playing in third-person.

Bethesda’s massive RPGs are known to feature incredibly deep and dynamic systems, but it’s surprising to see such a move by a companion go relatively unnoticed by such a huge fanbase over the seven years the game’s been out. However, given that the suplex is supposedly triggered by melee attacks and the large majority of Fallout players and their companions mostly do battle with firearms, it makes sense that the rare move was able to fly under the radar in the community for so long.
